Inspire - Stride mentoring programs
Stride runs community development programs across Australia to promote purposeful relationships in which mentors and role models assist at-risk young people to develop a positive sense of self and useful connections with their community. The Stride Inspire programs contribute to self-esteem, community and family connectedness, and develop hope for a positive future and active engagement in the community.
Mentoring Through Music:
Connecting Young People to Education through Music. This is a music mentor program with disconnected young people. Local musicians mentor young people who have disconnected with education and employment, using music and the arts. More info
Online Dreaming:
Helping young indigenous people create positive pathways for their future. Providing leadership and online mentoring to young people in the South Australian Communities of Port Augusta, Ceduna and Coober Pedy. That works to increase capacity of young people to cope with and manage adversity. More info
Sport Mentoring Program:
Connecting Young People through the Local Sports Community. Working with young people in Coonamble who are disengaged from their school and education. Using both national and local athletes as mentors it aims to reintegrate young males into school to continue their education and improve their employment prospects. More info
Strengthening Communities Project:
Building stronger communities for young people through mentoring and leadership programs. A community mentoring program in partnership with Colac ACE. Role models are trained in leadership and matched with young people. The community is enhanced through the provision of skills for the participants to take ownership of a project that will have a positive impact on the community. More info
Environmental Mentoring Program:
Connecting Young People to the Environment. . Stride runs the Environmental Mentoring Project to provide opportunities for young people to have a supportive mentor while undertaking conservation and environmental activities in their community. More info
Sport for Life Project:
Using sport to improve opportunities and outlook for young isolated indigenous poeple. The Stride Foundation's new Sport for Life project works with young indigenous people aged 10-15 years in regional and remote communities, who are identified as being at risk of disengagement from school. On the Ball Project:
Life skills development training through Basketball. The On the Ball Project builds upon the success of the Stride Life Skills through Basketball Program which was piloted by Stride in the South Australian community of Ceduna. This program involves fun and interactive life skills activities mixed with basketball skills development for young people, predominantly of indigenous descent between the ages of 10 – 16 years in communities across South Australia.
