Online Dreaming:
Helping young indigenous people create positive pathways for their future

Stride has provided the Online Dreaming program for over four years to remote towns in South Australia. Online Dreaming works to connect young, isolated indigenous people with their education and wider community through inspirational mentors and role models who work with them to help achieve their goals and develop skills to create positive pathways for their futures.
As part of the program, high profile role models from various fields including sports, the arts and music visit each community 2-3 times per year. Ongoing communication between role models and the young people is also maintained via various mediums including emails and a centralised weblog.
This program has proven highly successful in reconnecting young indigenous people with their education and community, thereby increasing their future employment prospects.
This program is unique in that it has been developed with the long-term development of the young people in mind.
Online Dreaming is currently being delivered to communities in Ceduna, Port Augusta and Coober Pedy.
