Stride Foundation creates
programs in schools for students and teachers to develop
supportive communities for young people.
Stride Foundation programs help connect young people
and build their self-confidence and skills.
Stride programs develop leadership while enhancing communication
skills. Children and young people are provided with a
supportive environment in which to increase confidence
and build new friendships. As a result, the school and
wider community becomes more friendly and supportive.
By increasing the support system for all students, our
programs are able to identify the students most in need
and assist them to develop the skills to make positive
choices and to seek support from peers and adults.
“The training was good fun and my leader was helpful
when I had a problem”
(Sarah, 12 years)
“The sense of community in our school has increased
as students learn to help each other.”
(Robin,
teacher)

Stride Foundation runs mentoring programs to promote
purposeful relationships in which mentors assist at-risk
young people to develop a positive sense of self and
useful connections with their community.
Our role models, who excel in their field, run motivational
workshops with groups of young people addressing key
concepts such as goal setting, overcoming barriers and
disadvantage and reaching their dreams.
The Stride mentoring programs contribute to self-esteem,
community and family connectedness, and develop hope
for a positive future and active engagement in the community.
One of our areas of focus is Australia’s indigenous
young people. Programs increase opportunities for Indigenous
youth through education, skills and training and help
build long-term sustainable outcomes.
“Given the right support, young people can
do amazing things. Its all about helping them to fulfil
their potential” (James
Hird AFL)
